The 9th season is now happening in Vietnam – TOEFL Challenge 2020-2021 continues to be the most valuable English playground for elementary and middle school students in Vietnam.
The region-level Selection Round (Round 2) of the TOEFL Challenge for Primary students (Grades 2-5) and Secondary students (Grades 6-9) in Hanoi is approaching and attracting more and more attention from many parents and students. This is an opportunity for students to experience the international English language test designed by the American Educational Testing Service (ETS) with globally valid results.
Tools to assess students’ progress & build accurate learning paths
Students participating in the Region Selection Round (Round 2) of the TOEFL Challenge will receive a TOEFL Primary/TOEFL Junior report card and have an opportunity to enter the National Round Finals (Round 3) and have access to free TOEFL Junior test and TOEFL ITP test. Report cards provide valuable and reliable information about a student’s English ability and detailed instructions for students to improve their level.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang, a parent whose child participated in this year’s contest, shared: “I am delighted and excited to let my child participate in this contest. This is an accessible playground, and I want my child to try this test to know exactly which level my child is at and to adjust his study plan.”
Especially in this season, with the expansion of the age range to students in grade 2, the competition attracts more attention from educators and parents. Right from the first round, the contest has gathered a large number of contestants from all over the country joining.
Exam results are recognized by the Ministry of Education – tickets to quality middle and high schools
The Ministry of Education and Training recognizes TOEFL Primary and TOEFL Junior tests as the standard for assessing the output foreign language ability of elementary and middle school students. In addition, the test results are converted to specific levels corresponding to the Vietnamese Foreign Language Competency Framework and the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
TOEFL Primary and TOEFL Junior test results have been used by many schools (Nguyen Tat Thanh Middle & High School, FPT Secondary School, Victory Experimental School, Western Hanoi School and many more…) as evaluation criteria, direct admission or extra credits.
In particular, the TOEFL Junior score report is also an essential advantage in the application to participate in international cultural exchange programs or to apply for scholarships to the world’s top high schools such as ASSIST (full scholarship for high school in the US), SIG (summer study abroad program in the US)…
Open an English library with thousands of books suitable for each student’s level
Reading English books is an effective method for students to practice reading skills, develop vocabulary and logical thinking. However, the books chosen to read need to be suitable for each student’s level.
TOEFL Primary and TOEFL Junior score reports provide students a powerful tool – the Lexile score that help us to choose the right book for each child’s level. The Lexile score is a valuable “guideline” for the process of training children’s reading skills. Students can visit www.lexile.com/toeflprimary or www.lexile.com/toefljunior, then enter Lexile scores on the report card and search for books that match their interests and their level.
TOEFL Primary and TOEFL Junior tests are increasingly chosen by parents and students to assess their English ability. To experience this useful test, excellent students are given a special chance to enter the Region Selection Round (Round 2). Candidates who have passed Round 1 can register at the school or directly with IIG Vietnam to participate in Round 2 of the competition.
The deadline to register for the Region Selection Round (Round 2) of the contest for junior high school students is January 11, 2021 and elementary school candidates is February 2, 2021.
