For 11 years of the competition, Vietnam teams have won two gold medals, two silver medals, nine bronze medals, and several top 10 finishes in the World Finals.
To continue to create opportunities for Vietnamese talents to compete in a world-class office software skill competition, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has joined IIG Vietnam and Viettel Group to organize the MOSWC – Viettel 2022 in Vietnam in March 2022.
The Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship, a global competition hosted by Certiport, Inc. aims at discovering and recognizing talents in Microsoft Office Word, Excel®, and PowerPoint®. The competition is held annually for young people aged 13 to 22, attracting millions of contestants from nearly 100 countries and regions each year.
In Vietnam, the competition has been held nationwide since 2010 by IIG Vietnam. After 12 successful seasons, the MOSWC – Viettel has proved its worth and is attracting more and more young talents who wish to master employability skills.
With the pandemic under control, this year’s competition promises to be intense and exciting. Besides the massive support from the organizer to candidates, there will be new points added to the competition rules, which will create more opportunities for contestants.

Increase chances of winning with new exams
This year, apart from Office 2016, the contest will include Microsoft 365 and Office 2019 apps to enable more young talents to join and win. This change also reflects the latest trends in office applications globally. Besides, the contestants can gain essential skills that matter to their potential employers and the country’s digital transformation.
Accordingly, the number of contestants to attend the World finals this year will be 6, instead of 3. These national champions will go to California, the United States, to compete with other counterparts from all over the world in the exams mentioned above.

To enter the competition, students have to pass a qualifying Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam (MOS 2016, Microsoft 365 Apps, Office 2019) with a score of 700 or higher. The organizer will then choose 400 contestants with the highest score.

Increasing the prizes awarded in the regional and national rounds.
The number of prizes this year is twofold, with a total of 6 first prizes, 18 second prizes, 36 third prizes, 90 consolation prizes, and six prizes for potential contestants. However, the value of each remains the same. The total value of prizes awarded at the national level is over VND 2 billion.
In the world finals, the first winner will receive USD 7,000, the second winner USD 3,500, and the third winner USD 1,500. This final round will be a golden chance for students to make their “American dream” come true and demonstrate their talents in an international competition.
This year’s competition will continue to award regional prizes following last year. To inspire and motivate disadvantaged students. Based on the results of the National Qualifying Round, the contestants from the following Northern Midlands and Mountains, Central Highlands, and Mekong River Delta will be considered for regional awards, including six first prizes, 12 second prizes, 18 third prizes, 60 consolation prizes and six teacher prizes for each region.
It is expected that with these changes, the MOSWC will continue to receive lots of attention and participation from contestants across the country.
