International School, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (IS- VNU) and IIG Vietnam signed an MOU about improving English language and IT proficiency for teachers and students on 1^st October 2014 in Hanoi. Dr. Tran Anh Hao – Acting Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hai Thanh – Vice-Rector, Mr. Doan Hong Nam – President, IIG Vietnam and the staff of both parties attended this event.

IS-VNU is one of the leading public institutions in implementing joint international training programs. IS-VNU’s training programs are of its partner universities’ educational standards and/or designed by leading Vietnamese and foreign experts on the basis of advanced educational philosophies that take into consideration Vietnam’s unique cultural and socio-economic conditions.

According to IS-VNU’s rector, to succeed in the context of a knowledge-based economy and international integration, determination and passion will not be enough. Laborers should acquire not only scientific knowledge and professional skills of international standards but also a good knowledge of foreign languages, thus allowing them to work on a global level.

Consequently, IS-VNU decided to use international standards in English language (TOEIC) and IT (MOS) to improve English language and IT proficiency for teachers and students.

IIG Vietnam and IS-VNU agreed to the following content in the MOU:

1. IIG Vietnam will support IS-VNU in applying English language proficiency benchmark with the TOEIC test and IT proficiency with the MOS test for students from the 2014-2015 academic year.
2. IIG Vietnam will organize the TOEIC test in collaboration with IS-VNU for admission and student placements purposes.
3. IIG Vietnam will provide IS-VNU with the EDO program (English Discoveries Online) for English language training.
4. IIG Vietnam will provide teaching materials for MOS program for IS-VNU.
5. IIG Vietnam will organize the TOEIC test and the MOS test in collaboration with IS-VNU for students, teachers and officers. 
6. IS-VNU will collaborate with IIG Vietnam in training experts and teachers for the above training programs.

With this MOU, the international English language and IT certifications that IS-VNU’s students are equipped with will be a useful tool to support them in joining the global labor market.
