TOEFL Challenge – A prestigious nationwide international English language competition for students from Grade 2 to Grade 12 was kicked off on November 23, 2021 in provinces across the country consecutively. Having been held for a decade in Vietnam, this year’s competition promises to bring students an exciting, astonishing and explosive experience

The TOEFL Challenge comprises 3 competitions: TOEFL Primary Challenge for primary students (Grades 2 – 5), TOEFL Junior Challenge for middle school students (Grades 6 – 9) and TOEFL ITP Challenge for high school students (Grades 10 – 12). These competitions use tests from the TOEFL family of assessments developed by Educational Testing Service (ETS) to measure candidates’English competence as well as to award prizes to the winners. The Challenge is organized by IIG Vietnam – the national representative of ETS in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar in collaboration with the Departments of Education and Training in the given countries.

After a decade, the TOEFL Challenge has attained remarkable achievements, which asserts its firm footing and wins the trust and response of many schools, parents and students. In this academic year 2021-2022, the Organizing Committee of the TOEFL Primary Challenge, TOEFL Junior Challenge and TOEFL ITP Challenge would like to announce an official launch of the competitions at primary, middle and high schools across the country.

A new season with some noticeable changes.

Marking the 10th season in Vietnam, the TOEFL Challenge for the school year 2021-2022 sets out some new rules.

Students can take online standardized TOEFL Primary/TOEFL Junior/TOEFL ITP experience tests completely free of charge.

This school year, to ensure the safety of students during the epidemic and to adapt to the Industry 4.0 era, the first round of online experience test will be completely free of charge. In addition, the organizers also wish to give the best opportunity for students from all regions in Vietnam to participate in a quality international English language competition regardless of their conditions.

This is an opportunity for students to experience TOEFL Primary, TOEFL Junior and TOEFL ITP international tests before registering for the Provincial/City Round. Each candidate will be given a code to take the online test on the system for a certain period of time, and they can choose the time to take the test to suit their own schedule.

After the Provincial/City Round, students with international score reports have advantages of direct admission to many prestigious secondary schools, high schools, and universities in Vietnam and in the world. At the National Final Round, students continue to be fully sponsored by the organizers and given international score reports.

Launching the TOEFL ITP Challenge for the first time for high school students

From the first year in high school, students start to prepare for the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam. Students getting 450 TOEFL ITP scores or above can be exempted from the exams and immediately win a score of 10 in English. Having a TOEFL ITP certificate early will definitely help candidates reduce stress and spend time on the other subjects. In particular, many big universities use the TOEFL ITP test score as criteria for direct admission or as an advantage in the admission process, such as National Economics University, Hanoi Law University, Academy of Journalism and Communication, Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology.

The TOEFL ITP Challenge is held with the view to granting high school students with a passion for English a language playground as well as to guide them on the journey to conquer the university gate.

The TOEFL Challenge not only creates an exciting playground for students, but also provides a measure of international English proficiency by the prestigious TOEFL family of assessments. Here are 10 reasons:

Nationwide launch

The TOEFL Challenge is taking place in many provinces and cities in Northern, Central and Southern Vietnam. This is convincing proof of the great spirit of English learning in many localities. With the support from the local education authorities in organizing the competition, students are motivated to nurture their love for foreign languages ​​and make more efforts to learn English for a brighter future. In addition, the results of the competitions in the provinces and cities also contribute to a general evaluation of the students’ learning, based on which effective teaching and learning methods can be proposed in each province or city.
