The award ceremony of the TOEFL Primary Challenge 2014 in Ba Ria – Vung Tau has taken place with the participation of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Department of Education and Training, members of primary school management boards and primary students. The contest, which used the TOEFL Primary test to assess English language proficiency of primary candidates, was first held in Vietnam by IIG Vietnam, an exclusive authorized representative of ETS in Vietnam, and local DOETs nationwide.

The contest offered Vietnamese primary students a healthy and helpful playground, where they can compete and identify their English language proficiency as compared to their peers as well as international standards. The test scores would serve as recommendations for their next steps of learning English. The contest attracted approximately 18.700 excellent students from 690 primary schools nationwide. After passing the TOEFL Primary Level 1 test in the Second Round, nearly 2,000 primary students entered the Final Round with the TOEFL Primary Level 2 test to find out the Champion for the TOEFL Primary Challenge 2014.

After 3 busy months across the country, the TOEFL Primary Challenge 2014 has come to an end with the title “Champion” being awarded to 15 primary students from HCM City and 1 primary student from Danang, of whom there are 2 4^th graders and 14 5^th graders.

In Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the TOEFL Primary Challenge 2014 received positive supports form Ba Ria – Vung Tau DOET and most primary schools in the province. There were 777 primary students from 43 primary schools participating in the First Round. After 3 rounds of competing, the Organizing Board awarded 73 best students and 10 most excellent primary schools at the contest. There were 2 winners, 6 first runners-up, 7 second runners-up and 58 students gaining consolation prizes in Ba Ria – Vung Tau. The contest really encouraged students in Ba Ria – Vung Tau to study and practice English and inspired their passion for studying English.

The TOEFL Primary Challenge 2014, which was successfully held in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, met not only technical requirements of a English language contest but also benefited all participating primary students and schools. Besides certificates from the Organizing Board, all participants of the Second Round and Final Round would be awarded the TOEFL Primary score reports issued by ETS with global acknowledgement. From the TOEFL Primary score reports, parents and teachers could easily convert into the he Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and compare with the Framework of Reference for English Language stipulated by MOET to put their students on right path right from the start. Schools could use the score reports to classify their students and teachers could use them to guide their teaching goals and monitor student progress and more.
