VEF to award 40 graduate fellowships in 2014

The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) is pleased to announce the application and selection process of the 2014 VEF Fellowship Program.

In 2014, VEF expects to award approximately 40 fellowships to Vietnamese nationals to pursue Master’s/Ph.D. degree through cost-sharing agreement with the U.S. universities. VEF through a cost-sharing agreement with the U.S. host university provides full fellowship including tuition fee, stipend, medical and health insurance, professional development grant, and other expenses. VEF also supports application fees to the U.S. universities, GRE General test fee, health check-up prior to departure to the United States, settling-in allowance, economy-class roundtrip ticket, support for visa application of Fellows and their dependents.

The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) was established by the U.S. Congress in 2000, creating educational exchange activities for Vietnamese nationals to pursue graduate studies and professional development at U.S. universities and for Americans to teach at Vietnamese universities and, thus, building the bilateral relationship between the United States and Vietnam. VEF receives an annual budget of U.S. $5 million from the U.S. Congress until 2018. In 2003, VEF sent the first cohort of Fellows to the United States. The year 2013 marks 10 years of VEF operation.

The Fellowship application and selection process is open, competitive, and transparent. Applicants do not need to pay any fees in order to apply or be considered for a VEF Fellowship. Winners are chosen based on individual merit, including academic performance and preparation, intellectual capability, English proficiency, and potential contributions to scientific education and research in Vietnam.
